Film Noir
I feel like there is huge nostalgia for Film Noir. As I was watching the film "Sunset Blvd." I couldn't help but think about films like "Inglorious Bastards" and even "Kill Bill". The idea that Hollywood is trying to recreate this idea of the beautiful, strong, fearless femme fetale who lives a private yet very action filled life. Always with varying degrees of close ups, particularly of the eyes, there is a degree of envy that the viewer feels towards these women.
"Sunset Blvd." set the bar for what was to follow but a film like "Inglorious Bastards" does not do a bad job of trying to reinterpret the genre. Gloria Swanson's Norma Desmond is the perfect mixture of misunderstood screen actress living past her prime and evil villainess. Her exasperation of trying to recreate the uber goddess she once is still persuasive because it does create a sort of sexual tension throughout the film between her, the butler Max, and Joe.
A film like "Inglorious Bastards" still has all of the same ingredients that make a great film noir with a modern twist. There is still the femme fatale, in this case, the beautiful Shoshanna/Emanuelle and the gangsters, or in this case, the Nazis with different degrees of sexual tension and sexual desires throughout the film. Instead of being a direct copy of Film Noir, it is Terrentino's idea of film noir, with his own twist. He is interpreting it in his own right and in a way creating a mash-up of his own.

My Meme
I chose to create my meme based off the "What Are You Sinking About" clip I showed in class as one of my favorite memes.
